Week 5 recap

The Un-Predictable National Football League

What a weekend of NFL football! From the Broncos/Cowboys high scoring game to the Jets beating the Falcons in Atlanta, the only conclusion I can come up with after a weekend like this is that you can't predict the NFL anymore. Unless you are betting on the Denver Broncos this year, every other team can win or lose against any team on any weekend no matter what. Perfect example are the Jets winning in Atlanta. No one saw that coming and everybody predicted a huge blowout to boot. But yet the Jets find a way to win and that gives hope to other teams that you can win on any given Sunday.

I analyzed 4 games this past weekend and I got 3 out of 4 right! That's a great start to my predictions, so lets see what happen in those 4 games:

The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Seattle Seahawks 34-28. This was a great game that showed how good the Colts are. This year, Indy has beaten the 49ers in San Francisco and now beat Seattle, so don't sleep on the Colts anymore. Andrew Luck is the real deal and his receivers Wayne and Hilton have stepped up huge for him and once Richardson knows the offense, the Colts are ready to play with Denver. Seattle is a great team and almost pulled out another late win. I was shocked that Seattle's defense allowed over 30 points. I know teams play different on the road than at home, but with a dominant defense that Seattle has, I was amazed at how easily they were scored on. At 4-1, the Seahawks are still in 1st place and will continue to be a Super Bowl contender, especially if they can get home field in the playoffs.

The Denver Broncos defeated the Dallas Cowboys 51-48. This was a fantastic game and a great watch for all fans. The Broncos are a machine offensively. Peyton has the offense rolling to perfection and too many weapons makes them unstoppable. Manning finally threw an interception, so he is mortal after all. I've never seen an offense like this and it makes Denver the clear cut favorite to win it all. I was impressed with Dallas and how they were able to keep up with Denver. The Cowboys were in perfect position to win the game, but somehow Tony Romo always turns the ball over at a crucial point that causes the 'Boys to lose the game. Even though Dallas lost, I like how they are playing and will win their division since all the other teams aren't good.

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Detroit Lions 22-9. This game would have been a lot closer had Calvin Johnson played. He was a late scratch form the game and that really hurt the Lions chances at stopping their losing streak against Green Bay in the state of Wisconsin. Stafford was off his game all day and the absence of Megatron had an effect on Reggie Bush as well. The Packers were able to focus on Bush and make someone else on the Lions try to beat them. The Packers played decent this past Sunday and somehow still won by double digits. With the exception of a huge TD from Rodgers to James Jones, the Packers offense had to settle for 5 field goals by Mason Crosby. I expected a better showing by the Packers offense, especially from Nelson and Cobb, so they have to get that fixed to become a contender in the tough NFC.

The New Orleans Saints defeated the Chicago Bears 26-18. I thought the Bears would win because they had the home field and it would have made a huge statement to the league about the Bears. At 3-2. the Bears are tied for first and will continue to be a good team and win a lot of games this year. I also believed the Saints would have trouble in the elements of rain and wind, but they did not. Now the Saints are 1 of  3 undefeated teams and have sent a message to the league that they are back to top form and a force to be reckoned with.
